Werke von KAT18 zur Versteigerung bei Sothebys/ KAT18 art auctioned at Sothebys

Anlässlich des 200-jährigen Jubiläums des Kölner Karnevals und der Kölsche Funke rut – wieß, wurden Künstler:innen dazu ermutigt, sich mit dem Thema "200 Jahre Karneval und Rote Funken" auseinanderzusetzen. Im Kunsthaus KAT18 in der Kölner Südstadt, das unser Club seit 2013 unterstützt, arbeiten 24 Künstler:innen mit Beeinträchtigung in ihren Atelierkojen und der Galerie. Ziel ist, durch künstlerische Prozesse ihre Lebensbedingungen zu verbessern, individuelle Förderung zu ermöglichen und die Inklusion im Kulturbetrieb voranzutreiben. Das Ergebnis ist eine beeindruckende Sammlung von Werken, die vor allem die ausgelassene und fröhliche Seite des Karnevals zum Ausdruck bringen.

Nun kamen am 16. Juni 2023 Werke von ihnen bei Sothebys unter den Hammer. Statt gefunden hat die Versteigerung im Palais Oppenheim, Gustav-Heinemann-Ufer 136–138.

Dies ist sowohl für die Künstler:innen, als auch für uns als Club und natürlcih auch für Jutta Poestgess, Leiterin des KAT18, nicht nur eine große Freude, sondern auch eine besondere Ehre. 

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Cologne Carnival and the Kölsche Funke rut – wieß, artists were encouraged to explore the theme of "200 Years of Carnival and Rote Funken." At the KAT18 Art House in Cologne's Südstadt, which our club has been supporting since 2013, 24 artists with disabilities are working in their studio booths and gallery. The aim is to improve their living conditions, provide individual support, and promote inclusion in the cultural sector through artistic processes. The result is an impressive collection of works that primarily express the exuberant and joyful side of the carnival.

On June 16, 2023, their artworks went under the hammer at Sotheby's. The auction took place at the Palais Oppenheim, Gustav-Heinemann-Ufer 136–138.

This is not only a great joy but also a special honor for the artists, our club, and of course, Jutta Poestgess, the director of KAT18.
